‘I have been working at the Marriott as a chef for the last 4 months.  It is really fun and enjoyable but very hard work.  I’ve now got my own place which I pay for myself which is great.  What we are doing with the Bakery is amazing.  It's giving people the chance to do what I did, get skilled up, go on courses and get a full time job!’

One of our all-star peer mentors, Henry supports newer trainees to develop their skills. He also cooks up a storm  in our kitchen everyday day to provide breakfast and lunch for our other clients.

 Neil is currently one of our peer mentors who helps support new trainees when they start the scheme-- showing them the ropes and teaching them techniques he has learned here with us. Additionally he has completed the Catering Trainee Scheme, and he pays regular visits to our rooftop allotment garden to pick herbs and veg to use in the kitchen.

 Despite having “never made cake before in [his] life,” Bobo quickly picked up baking skills and with it, his well-being and happiness. He recently completed the bakery training scheme, and is currently working towards getting back his badge and returning to work in security.

Pete has completed our gardening and bakery training schemes. He is currently doing our catering trainee scheme and is also working in the bakery as a peer mentor, helping to teach and supervise new trainees.

Kathleen came with us to the Houses of Parliament  in  2014 to collect the London Homelessness Award for our catering training scheme, which she had recently completed. 

Completed our trainee scheme and started studying for a qualification in Security.

As one of our first bakery trainees, K completed the scheme and obtained his level 2 hygiene certification.

Asia's our Employability Co-ordinator. She helps our trainees to plan their next steps; into work, training, or volunteering. While she's the queen of CVs, there's a lot more to her role than that; re-building confidence and inspiring people to achieve their full potential.
