What?

Rise Bakery is an online bakery producing delicious brownies and delivering them straight to your door!

The bakery has five brownie flavours to choose from, including Great Taste award-winning raspberry and white chocolate as well as orange and coconut blondies. There’s a gluten-free option too.

Who?

Rise Bakery is part of homelessness charity Providence Row. Providence Row has been running for almost 160 years in the East End of London, tackling the root cause of homelessness. The bakery is part of the charity’s training scheme programme which offers accredited training and employment support for people affected by homelessness and all the money raised by selling brownies online is invested back into these schemes.

We are a social enterprise, that's part of an amazing charity, Providence Row. We rely on the support of dedicated individuals to ensure that we can continue to offer excellent support to people experiencing homelessness. If you're able to donate a little, we'll love you forever!

Andrea

Our Head Baker, Andrea leads our product design and bakery training scheme. Before joining us he ran another local social enterprise coffee shop and worked as a chef at a local gallery.

Simon

Our Head Chef, Simon has previously worked in Michelin Star kitchens and now facilitates our catering training scheme.

‘I have been working at the Marriott as a chef for the last 4 months. It is really fun and enjoyable but very hard work. I’ve now got my own place which I pay for myself which is great. What we are doing with the Bakery is amazing. It's giving people the chance to do what I did, get skilled up, go on courses and get a full time job!’

Henry

One of our all-star peer mentors, Henry supports newer trainees to develop their skills. He also cooks up a storm in our kitchen everyday day to provide breakfast and lunch for our other clients.

Neil

Neil is currently one of our peer mentors who helps support new trainees when they start the scheme-- showing them the ropes and teaching them techniques he has learned here with us. Additionally he has completed the Catering Trainee Scheme, and he pays regular visits to our rooftop allotment garden to pick herbs and veg to use in the kitchen.

Angel

Angel is one of our Peer Mentors - helping show the newer guys the ropes.

Bobo

Despite having “never made cake before in [his] life,” Bobo quickly picked up baking skills and with it, his well-being and happiness. He recently completed the bakery training scheme, and is currently working towards getting back his badge and returning to work in security.

Pete

Pete has completed our gardening and bakery training schemes. He is currently doing our catering trainee scheme and is also working in the bakery as a peer mentor, helping to teach and supervise new trainees.

Dom

Dom manages the 'Dream Team' - overseeing all of Providence Row's employment projects and trainee schemes

Gemma

Superstar Baker. Completed our trainee scheme and now in sustainable employment. Result!

Kathleen

Kathleen came with us to the Houses of Parliament in 2014 to collect the London Homelessness Award for our catering training scheme, which she had recently completed.

Alov

Completed our trainee scheme and started studying for a qualification in Security.

As one of our first bakery trainees, K completed the scheme and obtained his level 2 hygiene certification.

As one of our first bakery trainees, M completed the scheme and obtained his level 2 hygiene certification.

Nic

Our marketing guru, Nic helps us get our voice heard!

Asia

Asia's our Employability Co-ordinator. She helps our trainees to plan their next steps; into work, training, or volunteering. While she's the queen of CVs, there's a lot more to her role than that; re-building confidence and inspiring people to achieve their full potential.
